Children Exposed to Violence: When Domestic Violence Meets Child Abuse

- Explore the dynamics of domestic violence
- Recognize the needs of children exposed to domestic violence
- Acquire screening techniques and risk and protective factors that are unique to domestic violence
- Apply evidence based developmental and age-appropriate interventions
- Formulate a model case plan applicable to children exposed to domestic violence
Who Should Attend:
Child welfare professionals, behavioral health professionals, social workers who come into contact with children
This training is free. However, space is limited and registration is required.
This training has been approved for 3.0 general hours of continuing education credit by the National Association of Social Workers – Louisiana Chapter, as authorized by the Louisiana State Board of Social Workers.
A service of remembrance and hope where victims and survivors of domestic violence and their families have an opportunity to offer tributes and honor their loved ones. The community is invited.

First United Methodist Church will sponsor an awareness event and fundraiser for Project Celebration. Players, sponsors, and volunteers are welcome to attend.
Local first responders will conduct “A minute without domestic violence” by sounding their sirens for one full minute sending an alarming message of the prevalence of DV in our community. A proclamation, balloon release, and various other poignant reminders of DV will take place in a brief but meaningful assembly. Join us by wearing purple on this day as we show support and solidarity of DV victims and survivors.
The community is invited to share in a luncheon in honor of fallen officer Trey Hutchinson, killed in the line of duty while responding to a domestic violence call.
Free self-defense class for women and girls (ages 10+). Project Celebration wil provide an on site free and confidential domestic violence information and resource area. Prizes, drawings, and fun for all ability levels.
