Use of Technology in Intimate Partner Stalking Conference

Hosted by the Stalking Resource Center and NNEDV, this foundational conference will feature an array of nationally renowned trainers on the issues of intimate partner stalking and technology, including experts from the fields of law enforcement and victim services. You will learn how offenders use various technologies to stalk, how to document technology misuse, how to investigate and build a stalking case, and how to work with victims to enhance their safety. This conference will provide an opportunity to network with your colleagues from across the country and discuss challenges facing practitioners in this field.
Participants will gain a basic understanding of how various technologies are used by stalkers and how to enhance community responses to stalking.

The Use of Technology in Intimate Partner Stalking Advance training for Criminal Justice Professionalswill be held from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm on September 19 and from 8:30 am – 5:00 pm on September 20. The conference will include a hands-on session, focusing on computer and cell phone forensics and basic evidence collection.

 

Geared toward law enforcement and other criminal justice professionals, including prosecutors, probation, parole, corrections, and judges, this training will provide essential information on the documentation, collection, and preservation of cell phone and computer evidence. This training will greatly enhance attendees’ ability to investigate cases where technology is misused as a tool in stalking.
Sessions will include:
  • Evidence Collection of Technology Based Stalking
  • Mobile Phone Seizure Certification
  • Field Search : A Free Tool for Computer Examinations

Learning objectives:
- Explore the dynamics of domestic violence
- Recognize the needs of children exposed to domestic violence
- Acquire screening techniques and risk and protective factors that are unique to domestic violence
- Apply evidence based developmental and age-appropriate interventions
- Formulate a model case plan applicable to children exposed to domestic violence

Who Should Attend:
Child welfare professionals, behavioral health professionals, social workers who come into contact with children

Registration:
This training is free. However, space is limited and registration is required.

Continuing Education:
This training has been approved for 3.0 general hours of continuing education credit by the National Association of Social Workers – Louisiana Chapter, as authorized by the Louisiana State Board of Social Workers.
