LCADV & LAFASA Day at the Capitol @ Louisiana State Capitol
Apr 16 @ 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
You are invited to join Louisiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Louisiana Foundation Against Sexual Assault at the Louisiana State Capitol as we advocate for survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
We will kick off the day with a short opening ceremony on the capitol steps. Then stop in at the display table in the rotunda to get details on talking points, who your legislators are, and what relevant hearings are occurring where your testimony may make a difference.

Stay tuned for more information. See you at the Louisiana State Capitol!

Attorney General’s Office Basic 2-Day Domestic Violence Course for Law Enforcement @ Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office
Jun 4 @ 9:00 am – Jun 5 @ 5:00 pm

The Louisiana Attorney General’s Office and P.O.S.T. invite your department to participate in classes to be held in your area as a part of our annual training series on the Law Enforcement Response to Domestic Violence and Orders of Protection and Law Enforcement Response to Human Trafficking.  The Louisiana Department of Justice, Office of the Attorney General has developed, and implemented Louisiana’s first Peace Officers Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) certified law enforcement training dealing with issues of domestic abuse and most recently has launched Louisiana’s Law Enforcement training specific to Human Trafficking.

These comprehensive courses utilize a standardized and uniform curriculum that concentrates on areas such as the nuts and bolts of domestic violence and human trafficking, laws and legal issues, orders of protection, safety, investigative techniques and special issues such as stalking and strangulation.

In addition, the course is facilitated by a team of certified instructors, as well as certified academy instructors who have extensive knowledge in the area of domestic violence and human trafficking representing advocacy, law enforcement response, and the criminal justice system.

Course instruction and all materials are provided at no cost to your agency. This class will accommodate a maximum of 40 participants so early registration is encouraged.  Please see the attached schedule for the upcoming trainings in your area.

To register officer/officers for this training, please visit the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice / P.O.S.T. website at http://www.lcle.la.gov for postings and agendas.
